Privacy Policy

Your answers are yours. Here is what happens to them, and why.

Pawsonality is run by Gonçalo Cabrita, an individual based in Portugal ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for personal information processed through this website and the Pawsonality iOS app. This policy explains what we process, how, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The short version

  • There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or location.
  • Your quiz answers are sent to an AI model to write your match, then forgotten by us.
  • Your results and favourites are stored only on your device.
  • We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across apps.

What the app processes

  • Your quiz answers, including anything you type into the open questions. When you finish the quiz, they are sent over an encrypted connection to our server and on to Anthropic, who provides the Claude AI model that writes your match. The same applies when you tap "Talk me out of it": the breed and, if you have taken the quiz, your answers are sent. Our server passes the request through and does not store it. Please avoid typing names or other personal details into the open questions.
  • Your country or region, read from your device's language and region settings (not GPS), so we only suggest breeds that are available where you live. It is sent along with your quiz answers.
  • Technical data such as your IP address, which our hosting provider (Cloudflare) necessarily receives when the app connects. We use it only to protect the service from abuse (rate limiting) and do not store it.
  • Anonymous usage statistics via TelemetryDeck, such as "quiz completed" or which breed page was opened. These contain no answers, no free text, no location and no identifier that could be linked to you. TelemetryDeck is a privacy-first analytics service based in Germany.

Your match results, quiz history and favourite breeds are stored only on your device. We cannot see them, and deleting the app deletes them.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which, like any web host, necessarily receives your IP address and basic request details (such as the page requested, the time, and your browser type) in order to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not combine it with anything from the app. Cloudflare processes it on our behalf under its data processing addendum; transfers to the United States are covered by the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. Anthropic (the AI)

Anthropic, PBC (USA) processes your quiz answers on our behalf to generate your result. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models and is kept only for a limited period for trust and safety purposes, after which it is deleted. Because Anthropic is based in the United States, your answers are transferred outside the EU, protected by Standard Contractual Clauses and Anthropic's data processing addendum. Legal basis

We process your quiz answers to provide the service you request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and only after you acknowledge the notice shown before each quiz. Anonymous usage statistics, abuse prevention and serving this website rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app and the site working, secure and improving (Article 6(1)(f)).

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data. Not to breeders, not to shelters, not to anyone.
  • We do not use your data for advertising or track you across other apps and websites.
  • We do not keep your quiz answers on our servers.
  • We do not use cookies or trackers on this website.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you, and correct it.
  • Delete your data. For the app, deleting it removes everything stored on your device.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD) or your local supervisory authority.

Because we do not store your answers or link anything to you, in most cases there is nothing on our side to access or delete. To exercise any of these rights or ask a question, email us at hello@pawsonality.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

Pawsonality is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly process personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
