Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Pawsonality website and app, which are run by Gonçalo Cabrita, an individual based in Portugal ("we", "us"). By using Pawsonality, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What Pawsonality is

Pawsonality is a matching tool that suggests dog breeds based on your quiz responses. It is designed to be helpful, thoughtful, and fun. It is not a substitute for professional advice from veterinarians, certified animal behaviourists, or shelter staff.

Buying the app

The Pawsonality iOS app is a one-time purchase sold through Apple's App Store. Payment, Family Sharing and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms; refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Matching requires an internet connection. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

What Pawsonality is not

Pawsonality is provided for entertainment and inspiration purposes only. A match is a starting point for your own research, not a recommendation to acquire any particular dog. We do not guarantee that any match will be right for you. Dogs are individuals, and so are people, and no quiz can predict every aspect of a relationship between a person and a dog.

Bringing a dog home is a 10–15 year commitment. Please make that decision responsibly: research the breed, meet the dog in person, and talk to reputable breeders, rescues and your veterinarian before deciding. You are solely responsible for the decision to acquire, adopt or care for any animal.

AI-generated content

Your match narrative, compatibility scores, runner-up suggestions and "Talk me out of it" assessments are written by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) from your quiz answers. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date. Breed descriptions and vitals are general guidance and individual dogs vary.

Breed restrictions and the law

Information about breed-specific legislation, insurance or housing restrictions is a general guide, not legal advice. Laws differ between countries and municipalities and change over time. Always check the rules that apply where you live before acquiring a dog.

Acceptable use

Please use Pawsonality as intended. Specifically, do not:

  • Use automated tools to scrape content or quiz data.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the matching algorithm.
  • Misrepresent yourself or impersonate others.
  • Use the platform for any purpose that is illegal or harmful.

Content and intellectual property

All content on Pawsonality — including text, illustrations, photography, the quiz design, and the matching algorithm — is owned by us or used with permission. You may share links to our content, but you may not reproduce, modify, or distribute it without written permission. Breed photography in the app is AI-generated and illustrative; it may not represent every individual of a breed.

Third-party links

Pawsonality may link to external websites and organisations. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. When you leave our site, their terms apply.

Limitation of liability

Pawsonality is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it accurate, available, and useful, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free results. To the maximum extent permitted by Portuguese and EU law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you through the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes will be resolved in the Portuguese courts, unless EU consumer protection law grants you the right to use your local courts.
